The BNP bank branch in Uccle was targeted once again in a protest against the ties between the banking giant and Elbit Systems: paint was sprayed and windows were smashed.
For many months now in Louvain-la-Neuve, Grivegnée, Barchon, Brussels, and elsewhere, activists have been targeting BNP, each time with the same message: stop colluding with Elbit Systems, stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, and stop all collaboration with Israel.
This bank is a key target because its support for the Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems is massive and long-standing.
Since the 1990s, BNP has been lending money to Elbit Systems, positioning itself as a privileged partner. Furthermore, in the midst of genocide, the bank responded to a fundraising campaign by the Zionist entity, intended to perpetuate genocidal actions in Gaza and the continuation of its crimes in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The BNP bank branch in Uccle has once again been targeted. In just a few months, Israel has drastically escalated its settlement activities in the West Bank, killed hundreds of Palestinians, imprisoned thousands, and reinstated the death penalty for them. Continuing to target its accomplices around the world therefore remains an absolute necessity.
These decentralized actions will only stop when the complicity ends. Several complicit companies have severed ties with Elbit: Barclays, Hitachi, Kuehne & Nagel, etc. This is not the result of a sudden interest in human rights on the part of these companies; they are the result of various forms of resistance that expose these complicities and seek to weaken them.
The mobilization is working—let’s keep up the pressure.
