Our Strategy

Stop Arming Israel Belgium is launching a call to intensify actions to isolate Elbit Systems, a key part of the Israeli death industry in Belgium. After organizing mass civil disobedience actions, we are betting on the multiplication and the intensification of decentralized actions.
Our strategy is threefold:

Targeting the core : Elbit / OIP

Let's focus our efforts on one actor to maximize our impact and send a clear message on the consequences of complicity in genocide and colonization in Palestine. Elbit/OIP is a central pillar of the Israeli military-industrial complex in Europe. Isolating Elbit weakens the entire infrastructure.

 Ending partnership networks

Suppliers, subcontractors, partner institutions: these must all drop their links with Elbit. Every contract ended heightens the economic, political, and symbolical cost of Elbit's presence in Belgium.

Building a people's arms embargo

It's time for a people's arms embargo to end contracts between Belgium and Elbit. Through continuous pressure and public exposure of these military and commercial links, we can heigthen the cost of any future cooperation with this company politically. We must demand sanctions be enforced.

We are relying on a variety of means to act against the arms-industrial complex through which Israel is enabled, and put pressure on our public authorities to declare a military embargo against Israel

Our objective: creating a dilemma..

  • For secondary targets (financial, logistical partners) : heigthen the cost of their collaboration with Elbit-OIP through direct actions, boycotts, exposure, mobilizing workers, and legal rules. The goal is to force them to choose between their toxic partnership and their interests.

  • For public authorities : confront them with the political and financial cost of their complicity, whether it's explicitly acknowledged or not.

  • For Elbit and OIP : force the closing of the OIP subsidiary in Belgium by targeting its network of partners and suppliers, heightening the cost of their presence in Belgium.

OTHERS TARGETS

The movement for Palestine continues to mobilise: demonstrations, blockades, legal actions, targeting complicit companies, occupation of universities, and more. Different groups and organizations are already taking action to denounce the complicity in the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza—a continuation of the long-standing colonial project in Palestine—and the repeated violence in the West Bank, Lebanon, and other countries in the region. Despite superficial calls for peace, Belgium and the European Union remain complicit in the massacres and colonization carried out by Israel. No real pressure is being exerted by our authorities to end the ongoing genocide or the occupation, while actions in solidarity with Palestine are criminalized and struggle to gain widespread media coverage.

Yet, in recent months, peoples' mobilization and popular pressure have already led to victories, with the banning of certain arms shipments to Israel from transiting or being produced in Belgium. The movement must continue to grow!
